Public Space Upgrades in the 2nd Municipal District

Through a donation from Piraeus, a comprehensive programme of public space improvements was implemented in the 2nd Municipal District of Thessaloniki, aiming to enhance functionality, accessibility, and the overall quality of the urban environment. The project included the construction of 56 accessible ramps, the repair of damaged sidewalks, the installation of 100 new benches in public spaces, and the placement of parking barriers to prevent illegal parking on sidewalks.

The initiative also included the planting of 350 new trees in vacant tree pits and green spaces throughout the district, as well as the installation of nine Heritage Markers on buildings of architectural significance, highlighting the area's historical identity. These interventions form part of the Municipality of Thessaloniki’s collaboration with Piraeus to improve public spaces and enhance residents' quality of life.

Παράλληλα, πραγματοποιήθηκε η φύτευση 350 νέων δέντρων σε κενές δενδροδόχους και χώρους πρασίνου της Β’ Δημοτικής Κοινότητας, ενώ τοποθετήθηκαν εννέα Δείκτες Μνήμης σε κτίρια αρχιτεκτονικής κληρονομιάς, συμβάλλοντας στην ανάδειξη της ιστορικής ταυτότητας της περιοχής. Οι παρεμβάσεις εντάσσονται στη συνεργασία του Δήμου Θεσσαλονίκης με την Πειραιώς, στο πλαίσιο της ενίσχυσης της ποιότητας του δημόσιου χώρου και της καθημερινότητας των πολιτών.
